George William "Bill" Blades, age 89, of Lower Alloway's Creek passed away Tuesday, August 29th in Memorial Hospital of Salem County. Born in Cambridge, Maryland, he was the son of the late Albert and Mildred Adkins Blades. Mr. Blades was a US Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict. Bill was a transportation department supervisor for the E.I. DuPont Chambers Works retiring in 1981 after 31 years of service. He attended the Hancock's Bridge United Methodist Church, was a member of the South Jersey Gas Engine Club and he enjoyed rebuilding tractors. Bill is survived by his son, Jeffrey Blades (Pamela) of LAC; his daughters, Carmella Watkins of Millbrook, AL and Jennifer Turner (David) of LAC; brother, Donald Blades of Absecon, NJ; sister, June Bowman of Quinton; seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Genevieve Hudock Blades; brother, Wendell Blades; and sisters, Lois Harris and Janet Shimp.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 2nd in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd, Rt. 49, Quinton Twp. where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Burial will be in the Salem County Veterans Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be sent to the Disabled American Veteran's, 1601 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805.
