Theodore "Ted" Haefner, Jr. Obituary

Theodore (Ted) Haefner, Jr. of Mannington passed away Wednesday, January 27, with his wife by his side.

He was born in Baltimore, MD; his family relocated to Wilmington, DE, where he graduated from H. C. Conrad High School and attended the University of Delaware. Ted served in Italy with the U.S. Army 977 Signal Corps July 1945 - February 1947. He was employed at the DuPont Experimental Station, Wilmington, DE, for 34 years, retiring in 1985 as a Building Supervisor. Ted was a Master Mason for over 70 years, belonging to Brandywine Masonic Lodge No. 33, Wilmington, DE, and was a member of the Nur Shrine Provost Guard, Wilmington, DE, for over 55 years. He is predeceased by his parents, Theodore, Sr. and Ruth Haefner, Wilmington, DE. He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy (Bloemer) Haefner, sons David (Patty) Haefner, Las Vegas, NV and Alan (Lorraine) Haefner, San Diego, CA.; his grandchildren Kim (Matt) Quinn, Oceanside, CA; Melissa (Jonathan) Gbenekama and Michael (Adriana) Haefner, San Diego, CA; and three great grandchildren. Ted attended Quinton Baptist Church with his wife until unable to continue due to his health. He enjoyed boating, golf and bowling and traveled yearly to different states to participate in USBC Open Championships, reaching 50 years of participation. He was a long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Services will be held at the Woodside Funeral Home, 613 Salem-Quinton Road (Rt. 49) on Thursday, February 4.  Friends may visit with the family 10:00–11:00 AM; service will begin at 11:00.  Burial will be at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted's memory may be made to the Quinton Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 6, Quinton, NJ 08072 or Shriners Hospital for Children - Philadelphia, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
