Robert “Chick” Caldwell Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert "Chick" Caldwell, age 89, of Lower Alloway's Creek, Salem NJ  announce his passing on Friday, July 9, 2021 in Salem Medical Center, Salem NJ.  Born in Akron, MI, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Caldwell. Robert “Chick” Caldwell was a proud US Navy Veteran.  He retired as a Merchant Seaman, after over 40 years, with the Sunoco Refinery in Marcus Hook, PA. Chick was an avid reader of fiction books but he absolutely loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a member of the LAC Ruritan Club and also a member of Sons of the American Revolution.  Chick enjoyed going to the famous Muskrat Dinners that were hosted by the LAC Fire Company and the LAC Ladies Auxiliary; he never ordered just one dinner, he always ordered two!

Chick is survived, and will be lovingly remembered, by his brother, Neal Caldwell (Janet) of Pennsville; daughters, Brenda Cheeseman (Wayne) of Pennsville and Cindy Knight (Warren) of LAC; sons, Larry Halstead (Peggy) of Elsinboro and Garry Halstead (Tina) of Woodstown; grandchildren, Christopher, Bettina, Autumn, Nathan, Justin, Jenna and Levi; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jr., Wyatt, Haley, Cody, Jacob, Gavin, Chase, Callen, Colson, Tanner, Carter, Damon, Hannah and Raelyn. He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine in 1998.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 16, 2021 in Canton Baptist Cemetery.  Contributions in Chick's memory may be sent to his favorite charity The Salvation Army, 400 N. Orange St., Wilmington, DE 19801 or the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
