Rev. Jack Claxton, Jr. Obituary

Reverend Jack A. Claxton Jr., Salem, New Jersey, age 74, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 19, 2021.

Jack was born July 11, 1947, in Salem, NJ to the late Jack and Catherine Claxton. He was a 1965 graduate of Salem High School, a SSG in the NJ Army National Guard from 1966 – 1974 and a 2000 graduate of Chesapeake Bible College with a Bachelor of Christian Ministry. He was an Elder at Seeds of Greatness Church, Newark, DE.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Heather Pennington (Shane) of Casa Grande, AZ; his dearly loved grandchildren Gage and Justin Mason of Las Vegas, NV, and Taylor Mason of Chandler, AZ; his siblings, Jill Claxton of Salem, NJ and Bobby Claxton of Salem, NJ; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nephews and niece. He was predeceased by his loving wife Cynthia Claxton, his parents and his sister, Diane.

Jack spent a lifetime in sales. From insurance, to memberships, from his sub shops to doors and windows. He loved to talk with people and it served him well in the industry. He was also Pastor of Chesapeake Praise Ministries and River of Life Ministries. His careers and ministry enabled him to touch many lives. He loved to spread the Word of God at every occasion.

When he wanted to relax he would cook baked goods for the sole purpose of giving them to the people he loved. He loved riding his Harley Davidson every chance he could and was a member of the HOG First State Chapter #2510. He was infamous for his covered bridge rides up and down the East Coast and his mandatory ice cream stops at every town he visited, always posting a photo of him with his ice cream on social media with every ride. He loved to sing every chance he could, make people laugh and gave generously of his time to anyone that needed him.

Jacks pride and joy was his grandchildren. He would spend every moment he could with them, teaching them, nurturing them, protecting them and being an exemplary Pop-Pop. And when he wasn’t with them, he was thinking of them and praying for them.

Jack was a caring, loving, generous, man of God and his integrity and faithfulness endeared him to the 1000’s of lives he touched over the years. He will be deeply missed.
