Raymond S. McFarland, 75, from Lower Alloways Creek, NJ, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on May 11, 2022.
The son of the late James and Elizabeth (nee Scott) McFarland, Ray was born in Darby, PA in 1946 and graduated from John Bartram High School in 1964. Ray worked for DuPont, Chambers Works, and Atlantic Electric as a master machinist and supervisor. He was a member of Quinton Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a trustee. Ray loved to sail, especially wing-on-wing, and was a member of the Salem Boating Club for many years. His favorite pastime was collecting and restoring classic cars and touring across the country with his wife and fellow car club members. He was a member of the South Jersey Region AACA car club, where he served as President for several years. Ray was so proud of his 1929 Model A Ford; however, a devoted father and “pop pop,” Ray’s greatest source of pride was his family, who will miss him dearly and cherish his “words of wisdom” for years to come.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda (nee Abruzzo); children, Raymond “Scott” (Shelley) of Pennsville, Matthew (Amy) of Pennsville, and Philip (Dana) of Mullica Hill; sister, Barbara Fraser of Newark, DE; and grandchildren, Joshua, Emily (Michael), Ryan, Abby, Jack, Eily, and Amelia.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Quinton Baptist Church, 46 E Main St, Quinton, NJ. Visitation will begin at 10 A.M. followed by an 11 A.M. service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ray’s memory may be made to Quinton Baptist Church, PO Box 6, Quinton, NJ 08072.
