Pedro "Gene" Vicente, age 84, of Elsinboro, passed away Friday, January 7th in Cooper Hospital, Camden, with family by his side.
Born in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Arturo and Georgina Colon Vicente. Gene dedicated his career to the food industry, working as a chef at the G &L diner, Elmer diner, and LaVita restaurant. The last 24 years of his career, he owned and operated Vicente's Place in Salem, where he worked alongside his wife, June, and their children. He enjoyed playing horseshoes on a team called The Farmers. Gene enjoyed hunting, reading his Bible, working in the yard, spending time with his grandkids and watching them play sports. He enjoyed playing the guitar, the accordion and the harmonica and loved dancing to Spanish music.
Gene is survived by his wife, the former June Zane; sons, Daniel Zane (Kimberly) of Alloway, Jim Vincente of Pennsville and Eddie Vincente (Lucille) of Carneys Point; daughters, June Sieber (John) of Elsinboro, April Friant (Thomas) of Upper Pittsgrove and Crystal Jamison (Justin) of LAC; several brothers and sisters; 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter, Debbie Vincente.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 10AM-12PM, on Tuesday, January 11th at the Calvary Baptist Church, 300 Georgetown Rd., Carneys Point, NJ 08069. Services will begin at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Lawnside Cemetery, Pilesgrove.
