Janet Ayars Irelan of Pennsville, passed on July 26th 2022 after a long illness. Janet was born in the Salem Hospital on Market Street in Salem and attended public schools in Salem, graduating from Salem High School in the Class of 1952. Janet was predeceased by her parents L. Everett Ayars and Marion Fowser Ayars. She was predeceased also by her twin sister, Margaret (Peggy) and brother-in-law Millard Bidwell of Oxford Pennsylvania and brothers-in-law, Richard, Frank, Paul,and George Irelan.
After graduating from Goldey-Beacom College, Janet worked as a Medical Secretary at the Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware; she also worked for Dr. Reinhardt and for Dr. Sylvester, both in Salem before moving to Milford Delaware where her daughter was born. Janet moved to Pennsville in 1971. She is survived by her husband, Laurence (Larry) of 62 years; her daughter, Michelle Moyer (Rodney) of Pennsville; and sister-in-law, Catherine Irelan Homan of Winter Garden Florida. Janet loved her extended family of cousins and enjoyed hosting large holiday dinners for sometimes as many as 34 relatives. Janet loved making clothes for her daughter and herself. She also enjoyed decorating her home and working in her flower gardens in early mornings. Janet was usually accompanied in her flower gardens by her favorite wren that sat a few feet away on a fence and sang to her as she worked. Janet was a loyal Phillies Fan and often talked about her favorite teams and the 1980 and 2008 World Series Champions. Even in her last days, she watched the Phillies playing on TV. Janet lived a life of faith and was a dedicated Christian enjoying her years at Quinton Baptist Church. Prior to her marriage, she attended the First Baptist church of Salem, where she taught Sunday School. Janet loved and appreciated her caregivers who helped her for two years while at home. She will be missed by all who ever knew her. Janet loved flowers and making arrangements for any occasion.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 30th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Rd., Salem, NJ 08079 (Quinton Twp.) where family and friends may call from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Cemetery.
