Beatrice Featherer Newkirk Obituary

Beatrice Featherer Newkirk, age 99, of Pennsville was absent from the body and present with the Lord on June 20, 2020.  She was born in the Salem County Memorial Hospital, Salem, NJ.  She was the daughter of Mary (nee Osborn) and Leonard Weisgerber.  Bea graduated from Salem High School in 1939.  During her lifetime, she was employed at several businesses in Salem ... meeting many wonderful people at The Palace Theater, Dixon & Fogg Drug Store, William H. Harris, Salem Express, Office of Dr. Madara, Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation (Carton Dept. Office and Production Planning & Control), retired from Salem County Courthouse as Court Clerk, and Rutgers Extension Service.  She was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Salem for  59 years.  After moving to Pennsville, she became a member in 1995 of Park Bible Baptist Church.  Bea enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Cornerstone Pregnancy Center, Memorial Hospital of Salem County Auxiliary, and Red Cross Nurse's Aide in 1945.  Her hobbies were quilting, sewing , knitting, gardening, baking and visiting Ocean City.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry (Bud) Featherer, and a half brother, Leonard Weisgerber, Jr., and her second husband, Ralph S. Newkirk. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ridsdale (Bob); and her son, Harry (Budd) Featherer (Patricia); along with her grandchildren, Meredith Sobelman (Joshua), Jennifer Toto, and Daniel Featherer; and her great grandchildren, Ryan Sobelman (Jan), Emily Sobelman, and Trevor Toto; and stepchildren, James Newkirk (Bonnie), Barry Newkirk, and Bruce Newkirk (Donna).  She was also blessed with many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. 
 

Graveside services will be held 11:30 Friday, June 26th in Lawnside Cemetery. Pilesgrove.  Contributions in Bea's memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of Park Bible Church, 95 Sparks Ave., Pennsville, NJ 08070or the charity of the donor's choice.
