Samuel F. Clarke, age 81, of Salem passed away July 12th in Wilmington VA Medical Center. Born in Deepwater, NJ, he was the son of the late George and Thelma Ecret Clarke. Mr. Clarke retired from the Acme Markets. He loved the big blue ocean and spent time fishing while telling many “fish”stories. Sam was ‘non-stop’. He was always busy with a project or two, and enjoyed creating beautiful stained glass pieces that he gifted to his special ones. Sam made sure his yard was immaculate with the greenest grass and colorful flowers in addition to a small vegetable garden. Sam also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who gave him such love and laughter. He was a US Coast Guard veteran. Sam is survived by his daughters, Sharen Cline (Ed Linski) of Salem, Joanne and Al Parker of Pennsville and Cyndy and John Keen of Woodstown; brothers, George Clarke and Shirley Clarke of Yulee, FL and Vernon Clarke; grandchildren, Lindsay Cline, Jack Cline (Stephanie Moya), Megan Johnson, Brittany and J.J. Hester, John Keen Jr., Julie Keen, Jordan Keen (Kyle Sickler) Jillian and Mark Olson, Jessie and Mike Pelura, Jared Keen and Jaidan Keen; great grandchildren, Jake Cline, Wyatt Johnson, Micah Pelura and two on the way; and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, the former, Joan Hannagan and siblings, Jeanette Heydenreich and Gilbert Clarke. Memorial Services will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 18th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 34 Oak Street, Salem where friends may call after 6:00 PM. Interment will be private.
