Chester Richard Bacon, 72, of Salem, NJ (formerly of Landenberg, PA) passed away on November 28, 2019.
He is survived by his wife Donna (Chappius), children Heather Bacon (Brian Polsen), Kemberly DeLellis (Chris), Craig Brown (Kim), and Erin Arnold (Nick), 7 grandchildren, and sisters Martha Krisko and Bonnie Brown. He is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Esteline Armstrong Bacon. Dick grew up in Salem, graduated from Salem High School, Alderson-Broaddus College (BS), and University of Delaware (MS). Professionally, he used his Biochemistry background to teach at Salem Community College, Temple University, and University of Delaware and to perform research at the A.I. duPont Children’s Hospital and Cephalon, Inc. He was also an avid gardener, woodworker, and all-around handyman. In 1987, he built a home in Landenberg, PA, where he and Donna lived and raised their family until 2018, when they returned to Salem to live on the beach in Elsinboro—property that had long been owned by the Armstrong/Bacon family.
An informal Life Celebration and luncheon for family and friends will be held on December 15, 2019 at the Inn at Salem Country Club at 2:00 pm.
