Charles “Owen” Franklin, Jr.

Charles "Owen" Franklin. Jr. of Lower Alloways Creek Township passed away on April 22, 2018 at the age of 88.

 Born in Salem on July 11, 1929,  he was the son of the late Charles Sr. and Rachel Franklin (nee Donelson).  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Betty Franklin (nee Brown); daughter, Betty Joyce Hiles (Howard); granddaughters, Shea Martino, Tabitha Krzewinski (Brian);  grandsons, Russell Hiles, Kevin Hiles (Justen), Joseph Franklin (Christine) and Craig Franklin;  brother,  Nelson Franklin (Lynn); sisters, Carolyn Sheppard (Edward), Patricia Velma Richardson, and Lorraine Pitman (Jim).  Owen had 7 great grandchildren.   He is also survived by a special niece, Donna Sheppard. Owen was predeceased by his son, Owen W. Franklin " Junior"; and brothers, Frank, Donald, Martin and Russell Franklin.   Owen was an advent horse lover (trained trotters and pacers) and boy did he love his cigars. Owen worked at Les Foggs, Leon Stotter, Owen and Minor,  and  Rivendell Nursery, LLC in Greenwich, NJ is where he last worked. 

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, April 27th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd, Rt 49, Quinton Township where friends may call after 10:00 AM.  Burial will be in Canton Baptist Cemetery.  Contributions in Owen's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
