On September 7, 2019, Aaron “Harold” Homan, age 85, passed away quietly at home with family.
He was one of Evan Harold Homan and Claire Black four children. He is survived by his brother Kenneth Homan and predeceased by his parents, sister Carolyn, brother Milton, wife Virginia “Jeannie” Cagle and son Johnny Jennings. Harold was blessed to have a large family. He is survived by Linda Magee the mother of his six of the 10 children he raised; Claire Scarfo, Harold Homan, Melinda Weisgerber, James Homan, Billy Homan, Carolyn Tripet, Ann Jennings, Fonda Jennings and Dawn Jennings, as well as, a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many others who lovingly referred to him as “Pop”.
Harold was a compassionate and adventurous man who always lived life on his terms. He served as a paratrooper and medic in the 82nd Airbourne, received an Engineering Degree from Rowan University, and retired from the City of Salem Water Department. However, this is a small portion of the contribution that Harold had given to this world in his 85 years. He instilled in his children and displayed to others by his character that you always help a stranger in need, that everyone who enters your home is to be considered family, and the importance of hard work and loyalty. He was an avid lover of fishing, hunting, outdoors activites, motorcycles and fast cars. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Harold, was blessed to have known a man with such great spirit and tenacity for life. He has passed on to his heavenly body to be reunited with his loved ones. He is loved and missed by many.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 11th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd., Rt. 49, Quinton Twp. were friends may call after 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Salem Baptist Cemetery.
