Wilbert Joseph "Drip" Cummings, age 78, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, in the Memorial Hospital of Salem County. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Wilbert Taylor and Thelma Hyson Cummings. Drip was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. Before his retirement, he was the head of maintenance for the Salem City School District. Drip was an exempt fireman and diver of the North Bend Hose Co. No. 4 of Salem. He served on the Salem City Police Dept. during the 1980's. Drip enjoyed photography, genealogy and going to the Oak Diner. He was proud to be a Scottish Highlander. Drip is survived by his sons, Wilbert John Cummings (Janet) of Salem, Joseph P. Cummings (Michelle) of Salem and Cody Cummings of Elsinboro; his daughters, Tammy Fisher (Edward) of Salem, Sharnee Haley (David) of Salem and Casey Cummings of Elsinboro; sister, Janice Cummings Williams (Willie) of DE; and 14 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Cummings Kugler.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 6th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd., Rt. 49, Quinton Twp. where friends may call after 10:00 AM and also Tuesday evening, September 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be sent to the Salem City Fire Dept., 17 New Market Street, Salem, NJ 08079 or to the American Diabetes Association , PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
