Suzanne Newkirk, 66, died peacefully on May 2, 2017, surrounded by family. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 28, 1950, Sue was the daughter of the late Alex and Olga Christo. According to family lore, no one knew that the delivery would result in twins. Nine minutes after the birth of her identical twin sister, Sue entered the world as a complete surprise. She would continue to surprise and delight her family and friends throughout her life. Sue enjoyed a long career in nursing in Salem County and took pleasure being able to help others. She enjoyed many hobbies, including reading, the weather, trips to the shore and being a passionate animal lover. But no role meant more to her than that of being a mother to her son, Ryan Newkirk. The two of them shared an inseparable bond and together they had countless adventures. She was his number one fan, shared his passion for all sports, and together cheered on the Dallas Cowboys with her son for 40 years. Sue was loved most for her authenticity, her compassion, and her empathy for others. She was selfless, nurturing and fiercely protective of those she loved. She was special to her family and friends, and will be greatly missed and remembered with the deepest love. Sue is survived by her son, Ryan Newkirk, his wife, Sarabeth Newkirk, grandson, Noah Newkirk, and siblings, George Christo and family, Sandi Vengenock and family, and Connie Christo-Denham.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 20th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 34 Oak Street, Salem where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
