On May 18, 2017, age 85, of Lower Alloways Creek. Born in Salem on July 25, 1931, he is the son of the late Norman D. and Gladys Turner. Norman, otherwise known as "Whitey", served in the US Army during the Korean War. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, farming, and was most notably known for growing cantaloupe. Whitey was a longtime member of Canton Baptist Church and served as a Boys Brigade Leader, a Sunday school Teacher, and also as a past Trustee. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Florence (nee Glaspey); his sons David Turner (Jennifer) of LAC and Mark Turner (Pamela) of Daykin, Nebraska. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jami Schultz (Jeremy), Lauren Luckett (Austin), Matthew Turner (Ashley), Jared Turner Adam Turner, Lauren Turner, Ashley Turner; his great-grandchildren, Cody, Lainey, Savannah, Gabby, Avaley, Curian, and Ryder; and his sister Marlene Piemontese. He is predeceased by his daughter Barbara Baumgardner (Dave) of Louisville, Kentucky and sister Janice Derrick (Ted) of Delaware.

Services will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday May 23, 2017 at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd., Quinton, NJ 08072, where friends may call after 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canton Baptist Church, 700 Smick Rd., Salem or LAC Ambulance Corp., PO Box 227, Hancocks Bridge, NJ 08038. Arrangements are by WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, Quinton.
