Elizabeth (Liz) Sullivan, age 83, of Salem passed away Thursday, January 11th in Merion Gardens Assisted Living Facility, Carneys Point. 

She is the daughter of the late Martin and Cora Noonan,  Born in Woodbury, she moved to Salem at age two.  Liz was a 1952 graduate of Salem High School and went to work at the old Salem Hospital on Market street as a switchboard operator.  In 1954 she went to work for Dr. John Madara and was his medical assistant/secretary for 42 years.  Following his death in 1996 Liz worked for Dr. Michael, Wilmington Hospital and Dr. Sooy before retiring at age 74.  She was a member of St. Mary's Church, St.Mary's Guild, Salem Democrat Club ladies auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge No. 1966 and VFW Post 253 Cpl. Joseph C. Toulson.  Liz is survived by her son, Charles (Megan) Sullivan, Jr. of Middletown, DE; daughters, Cynthia (Donald) Moore of Pennsville and Christine (John) Lopes of Franklinville; grandchildren, Rachel Stern, Melissa (John) Traini, Renee (Stephen) Plyler, Kyle (Destiny) Moore, Nicholas and John Lopes and Charles Sullivan III; great grandchildren, Michael and Mason Arnett, Dominic and Ayla Traini, Anton Plyler, and Riley Moore; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 48 years Charles (Chuck) Sullivan in 2009; an infant son, James R. Sullivan; brother, Martin Noonan; and sisters, Rebecca Nuttall and Dorothy Williams. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10:30 AM Thursday, January 18th in St. Mary's Church, 25 Oak Street, Salem.  A visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 17th in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 34 Oak Street, Salem and also, Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 AM at the funeral home.  Elizabeth was very generous and donated to many local charities including her local fire company, St. Mary's Church, House of Charity, Salvation Army, Red Cross and Special Olympics.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the charity of your choice.
